Virtual Lactation Consultant FAQs
1. How does a virtual consultation work?
Virtual consultations are conducted over secure video calls. You’ll receive step-by-step guidance, just as you would in person. All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera.
2. Can you really help without being in person?
Yes! Many breastfeeding challenges can be effectively addressed virtually. I’ll guide you through assessments, demonstrate techniques, and provide real-time feedback.
3. What if my baby has a tongue tie or other medical issues?
I can help identify possible concerns and collaborate with your healthcare provider to ensure your baby gets the care they need.
4. Do you offer follow-up support?
Absolutely! Email & messenger follow up is included to answer questions about your care plan, and follow up appointments will be recommended as needed for changes to your care plan or check-ins.
5. Is virtual breastfeeding help covered by insurance?
The short answer is: maybe. Little Bear Lactation works with Aetna, The Lactation Network, Wildflower (for Cigna), and Tricare to ensure increased coverage for care, however not all plans cover virtual services. United Healthcare plans may not cover virtual care. If your insurance provider is not working with Little Bear Lactation, you will pay out of pocket and Little Bear Lactation will provide you with documentation to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. You may also use FSA/HSA benefits for lactation care.
